Our courses support the business goals and objectives of our customers in the refining, petrochemical, gas processing, oleo and specialty chemical areas. From 2004 to 2018, our key associates helped train over 1000 operations, maintenance, and technical support personnel.
Operations and maintenance personnel are the process unit's first line of defense. The flare system is the process unit's last line of defense.We believe that every organization should have specific training and knowledge in these Safety Areas;

The unit on stream time is an indication of operations training. A first quartile-operating unit's on steam factor is greater than 97%. If the on stream factor is below 97% a review of operation training and development is warranted. If on stream factor or average years of operating experience is declining a review of operations training and development should be considered.
A review of each trainer's experience and knowledge is critical when choosing an operations development program. Suppose the trainer understands 90% of the subject. At best, he might could teach the students 75% of his knowledge base on a short course basis. Therefore the student's knowledge base is 67%. If this person goes and trains someone else, the second student's knowledge base is 51%.
Make sure that you have qualified instructors with a high level of the subject understanding or your results will not be satisfactory. Be careful in "Train the Trainer" philosophy to get a high level of the subject knowledge to your trainer.
Operations training and development is an investment in the future - maximize your return on investment. Give your employees the keys to success. How successful is your training program?
Training value is derived from participating in both standard and customized training courses. Structured on the job training is the key in developing your operations and process support staff. To provide on the job training, workshops that mentor small groups through problem solving scenarios may be the best. The course delivery method is a mixture of lectures, case studies, exercises, and problem solving scenarios that give participants the opportunity to reinforce concepts presented.
The highest factor in a process plant's profit is producing on test products. To have a good reliable plant you need to have at least a 97% on stream time. To obtain this you need to study the causes of failures. Many reliability studies show two main causes of unreliability; human error and instrumentation failure.
To be an effective manager, you should have a plan to reduce the main causes of unreliability. If you reduce the main cause of your problems, it will also make your life in general much better. Imagine having less phone calls at night, on the weekends and a higher bonus.
You should have a yearly budget to replace 10% of your instrumentation. This replaces all of your instrumentation every ten years. How many of your phones have lasted ten years? For certain critical sections of instrumentation ten years is too long.
You should have a training analysis and ongoing training program. For most average size plants, to go from 94% to 97% on stream time is several million dollars extra profit per year. If your training program is not reducing the human error incidents, you need to improve your training program.
The training participates must understand the basic fundamentals of the equipment they are operating to make the correct decisions. This is very important in choosing curriculum and trainers. They should almost be complaining it is too technical and too hard, gaining real knowledge is rarely entertaining, and it is actually hard work.
